Maternity leave & child care support during EMBO Long-Term Fellowships

Fellows are entitled to 3 months maternity leave during their fellowship. The fellowship will be extended for a period of up to 3 months. For child care reasons it is also possible to apply to work part-time during the fellowship with the maximum time (full-time plus part-time) not exceeding 36 months. The 3-months extension of the fellowships has to be requested by the Supervisor once the Fellow is back to the laboratory. Fellows are instead requested to send a birth certificate to the fellowships office. This will also entitle them to receive the dependent allowances.
From 2006 a special payment for childcare support can be provided to EMBO fellows with children under the age of 7, in addition to the standard dependent allowances. Please contact the EMBO Fellowship office in case you are interested in this childcare support.
